James Oliver and James Oliver Jr. received patent to 625 acres in Lunenburg County, dated 7/25/1749. Land was on Ledbetter Creek.

This is the earliest I've found the surname Oliver so far. I don't know where Ledbetter Creek was. Halifax was the first division of Lunenburg in 1752, being the reason I looked in Lunenburg.

There are a number of deeds in Lunenburg to or from Oliver or which mention them. The given Oliver names from an index are: Asa, Benjamin, Dionisius, James, John; and a John Olliver.
