Hi all,
I couldn't help but get in on this conversation. I am a Griffin and Jones
descendant also. My gg grandparents, Stephen Jones (b 1801) and Nancye
Griffin (b 1806), moved from Halifax Co in 1835 to Shelby County, TN. His
parents were Stephen Jones, Sr and Elizabeth Trevilian, married 1788 in
Halifax Co. Stephen, Sr's parents were Richard, Jr and Milderidge Jones

Nancye's parents were Elijah Griffin (1761-1845) and Mary Gold. Elijah was
the son of Ralph Griffin and Susanna Buckner. Ralph was the son of Richard
Griffin, Sr. and Mary Green. Mary was the daughter of Daniel Gold and Mary
Seat.

I know that my Jones and Griffins lived in the Hico River area of Halifax. I
too have been curious as to whether Reuben Jones was related to my Jones
liine. I My Richard, Jr died about 1797 and his father Richard, Sr. died
about 1779. Both died in Halifax, Co. I have a record of Richard, Sr's
children and Reuben is not one of them. I wonder if Reuben and Richard, Sr
were brothers? I understand that Richard, Sr and possibly Richard, Jr also,
came from England.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
