Sorry for the massive cross-post, just wanted to let everyone know. We
have 7 different tax lists indexed, all are considered drafts. We still
have to recheck them against the original image files. Years covered are
~1790 and ~1800 and the tax lists are Land and Personal Property. In
some cases the microfilms of the specific year 1790 and 1800 were very
hard to read so we went up/down 1 year to find a better copy.

We started this 8 months ago and submitted the information to several
County Webmasters and County Archivists. Unfortunately only one county
responded: New Kent. We have indexes and image files posted but no one
can find them....... So we are posting the new indexes along with the
old indexes as one BIG text file, located on our Rootsweb homepage. The

SPECIAL NOTE: This is CASE SENSITIVE !!!! It must be VaTax.txt.

Counties indexed are Charles City, James City, New Kent and Surry. This
is not a finished index. We are working on this every night. We are
currently working on Henrico, Amelia, Prince George and Chesterfield,
besides finishing the missing years and types for the other four
counties. All image files are ready. We just need to index the. When we
realized that there was almost 3,000 entries in the current list we
decided to post it.
