I am searching for the ancestry of Joseph Dawson who first appears in Craven
Co. NC by 1739. His will was proved in 1784. Children were William, Isaac,
Joel, Thomas, Jesse, Grace Hinds, Ester Prescott, Rachael Parsons, Lany
Dawson, Mary Aldredge, Sarah Waterer, Rebecca Smith, Selah Waterer, Exe.
John Handley. I have seen early Dawsons with the same given names in Goochland
and Amherst Co. Va. Hope there is a connection. Dan
