Notice the Veale marriage in Daviess Co., IN. I am currently researching a
line of Veales which migrates to Topeka, KS where my friend Dana Vail's line
is/was. I have been unable to prove to my satisfaction who George R. Vail is
descended from. George was married to Elizabeth Clawson and that seems
pretty well settled, as to her relatives. Does anyone know about the Veale
family which went to Kansas? It starts James Carr Veale b. bef. 1800 in VA
if I remember right. (I have a better date in my files.) Continues with
James Carr Veale, who married Elenor (Ellen) Aikman, to Col. George W. Veale
who was b. in 1833 in Daviess Co. IN and married Nannie Johnson in 1857.
They left IN in 1857 and went to Topeka, Shawnee, KS to raise their family.
He appears in an 1870 census with a Mauein J. as an apparent wife. On the
other hand, I show Nannie as his wife in the 1880 census. Could be a census
mispelling.
I have quite a bit of info on him and the family, including a bio and am
trying to follow this line down to see if it might lead me to George R. Vail
in KS. George W. Veale, Sr. has a son George W. Veale, Jr. who was b. in
1858 in KS. His brother was b. in 1866 in Topeka, Ks as well. Several
people can suggest possible parents for George R. Vail who married Elizabeth
Clawson, but I am just not real satisfied with the information yet. :-)
Does anyone know how this VEALE family relates to Jeremiah/Thomas/Moses? The
bio on George W. Veale says he descends from 3 brothers who came to America
abt. 1640, same story that we have heard many times, and Dana reports the
same thing about her line.
