I am trying to determine the parentage of Joseph Hunter Ball Knox County
KY 1803 m. Phoebe Slaughter. Limestone County AL census 1820. Ray County
MO census 1830. Several of their children were in Dade, Greene, Cedar &
Polk County MO during census 1840. Phoebe, apparently widowed, lived with
daughters Nancy Crosswhite Snowden and Malinda Shreve on Ray County MO
censuses 1850, 1860, 1870. Died 1874 & is buried in Ray County MO. According
to her obituary, prior to their marriage, Joseph traveled with Phoebe's
family, father John Slaughter, since he was very young. He may have been
orphaned by the Rev. War or maybe he was indentured. One Census shows Phebe's
birthplace as VA. Any leads, documented or unconfirmed would be appreciated.
