In working with the Yerby/Yearby family in Lancaster and Northumberland
counties in VA, I have hit a "brick wall" in locating the parents and
lineage of James T. Yerby. .
Information that I have:
James T. Yerby married Catherine Basye/Bayse on March 17, 1835, Robert
Dunaway, sec. (Source: "The Marriage License Bonds of Lancaster Co., VA
from 1701 to 1848", page 81.
Catherine "Caty" was d/o Elismond and Elizabeth "Betsy/Betsey" Basye.
(Source: Wills of Elismond Bayse (WW Mar. 18, 1820) and "Betsy/Betsey
Basey (WW Jan. 7, 1823) in Lancaster Co., VA, Will Book 28, page 4)
1850 Lancaster Co., VA Census , Page 283, Family #136.
James T. Yerby, age 37, white male, Farmer, Real Estate Value $6,400, b.
VA.
Catherine Yerby, age 40, white female, b. VA.
Sarah C. Yerby, age 8, white female, b. VA.
John Cundiff, age 72, white male, occupation- none, b.VA. (Probably,
Catherine's grandfather as her mother was Betsy Cundiff who married
Elismond Basye on Aug. 1793 in Lancaster Co., VA Source: Lancaster
Marriage Licnese Bonds, page 3).
Where does James T. Yerby place on the Yerby Family Tree? Any help
appreciated.
