Janean,

I am not among the better genealogists, but I have a number of Baptist
Ministers in my family tree. I have been an active Baptist church member most all
of my long life, and I would suggest that we not assume that the word,
"conversion" meant that the people were converting from one denomination to
another.

It sounds like the "meeting" they had was a "revival meeting", and the "conv
erts" were people who came forward to join that church by baptism. They
probably had no membership in any church prior to that time. When I was very
young there were some in our denomination who used those terms, and I am
familiar with them, although we do not use them today. I remember hearing the term
"new convert", which suggested that they had not been baptized into any
church before that.
