I have Vivion, Daniel, Thacker and Smith grandparents in Middlesex County, Virginia.
My 7th great grandparents are Alexander Smith and Mary Ann Cocke. It is said Alexander descends from Joseph Smith from Bristol, England.

I am trying to find out more info on the Smith family. I descend from Alexander and Mary Ann's daughter Margaret ( 1662-1703) who married John Vivion I (1655-1705) in Middlesex County, Va.

Their daughter Margaret Vivion married James Daniel son of Capt. William Daniel and Jochabed who are also my grandparents.

I also descend from Capt. William Daniel and Jochabed's grandson, Vivion Daniel born 1726 in Middlesex Co., Va and died in 1803 in Clark Co., Ky. He married Elizabeth Vivion daughter of John Vivion III and Jane Smith born 12 Aug 1715 in Middlesex Co., Va. She is the daughter of John Smith (1689-1727) and wife Ann (1700-1748).

I'm not sure who or how John Smith (1689-1727) is part or not part of the Alexander Smith family in MIddlesex Co., Va.

The information I have on Alexander Smith is that he was brought to Lancaster Co., Va. by John Robinson in 1653. In 1661 he was constable in Lancaster Co., Va.

In 1665, Cuthbert Potter deeded to Alexander Smith 700 acres on the Great Swamp near Mattaony path near the plantation of John Smith. This was recorded in Middlesex Co., Va Deed Book 1703-1720, p. 321 by John Smith, grandson of Alexander Smith.

John Curtis also sold 300 acres of land to John Smith adj Cuthbert Potter, running to the land of David Allison and Alexander Smith. of which john Smith had been in possession of.

>From Tyler's Quarterly Vol 2, p. 196 Alexander Smith was said to habe had a brother John and they were sons of Joseph Smith from Bristol, England.

Alexander Smith's will was written 5 Jan 1696 and proven 6 Apr 1696.

Any other information on this Smith family would greatly be appreciated. I am trying to straighten out these relationships on the Smith's.
