Subject: [VALANCAS] Request for Delay in Posting to new NN List
Date: Fri, 11 Sep 2009 14:43:16 -0400
I sent a similar message to the subscribed members of the new NN list
earlier today. However, there have been 20 new subscribers in the last
two hours, and I should have sent to everyone on all the lists who
were initially invited.
This list is barely two days old and I am a bit overwhelmed at the
response it has recieved. Considering there were 124 people who tried
to subscribe yesterday (see previous email), I am asking everyone who
either is, or will be, subscribing to please refrain from posting any
messages until the list becomes stabilized.
This is for two reasons:
(1) Your posts will receive a much larger audience if you will wait a
day or two before making posts
(2) Once the list is stabilized, I will be sending out a letter with
some general rules and guidelines for posting to the list that we can
As I wrote earlier, I discourage posting long-winded descendancy
charts with no dates, no places and no documentation. In fact, I am
going to be somewhat rigid on this matter. All queries should have a
specific question with names, approximate dates, places and known
facts. This can usually be accomplished in a few paragraphs.
I greatly appreciate the enthusiasm which this new list is generating.
It has far surpassed my wildest expectations. Since it is so new,
please allow me a little time to let things "gel" so that I can get a
firmer grasp on where things are heading.
