< I also have connections to the Bear Creek community; Hans Anderson
Gamelmoen and w. Ragnhild Jonasdtr were my GGgrandparents. Their son
Andrew Anderson was my Ggrandfather. Any chance this could be your
connection?>
I would also like to "publicly" thank Owen Anderson for these postings. My
ggrandfather, Knudt Knudtson (Knute Ostgard) came to Bear Creek Settlement in
1864 and raised his family there. I would love to hear from others whose
families lived there also. Knudt's son John stayed in Grand Meadow (about a
mile south of the settlement) and his sons James and Kenneth also stayed in
the area (Kenneth was mayor of Grand Meadow at one time, and James, my
father, worked for the railroad for almost 50 years). I live not far from
Grand Meadow now (Rochester) and we go to the Bear Creek Cemetery every
Memorial Day to lay flowers on the family's graves. The church and cemetery
there are very well kept. I am planning to do a tombstone transcription in
the next few weeks, since I am still trying to find some "lost" members of
the family (ones I didn't even know I had until recently!).
It's so nice to have something like this on the List!
