Hi all,

My great-grandfather was James W. SAMPSON (middle name possible William),
born around 1833 in Aldie VA, died June/July 1894 probably in Alexandria
VA. He married Georgiana W. Drake (b. possibly 1848 somewhere around
Fredericksburg?) on 15 Oct 1861. James served in the Union Army from 11 Nov
1863 - 12 Sept 1865. Worked at the Culpeper National Cemetery from approx.
Aug 1866 - Oct 1867.

I am interested in finding out anything about the SAMPSON family in Loudoun
County and elsewhere in VA, particularly names/dates for parents and
siblings of James W.
Exact birthdates for James & Georgiana would be nice, although I expect to
receive those from the NARA together with James' military record. I am also
wondering where Georgiana was during the Civil War as it would seen rather
dangerous to remain in Confederate territory with a husband in the Union
Army, not to mention the fact that according to my dates she would have
been 15-17 years old during those years!
