Hi list, I'm planning a one week visit to VA in Sept or Oct to research my HORSEMAN roots in Loudon and Fairfax Counties. So far, I'm thinking to visit the Balch Library in Leesburg and possibly the Library of Virginia in Richmond if it isn't too far away--I don't have a very good sense of distance from the map I've been looking at. Am I overlooking another important resource? Historical societies? My folk were there from c1776 to 1812 when they migrated to KY.
I have the choice of staying at Bayse, McGaheysville, or Gordonsville, none of which are real close to either library but that's what the timeshare people are offering. Not sure what the mountains do to driving distances. Any suggestions would be more than welcome. I'll bet the area is just beautiful in the Fall.
Thanks so much,
Michele
