Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 14:14:33 -0400

Hello! Everyone is cordially invited to attend the following event this
weekend!

EAST TENNESSEE - SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA GENEALOGY FAIR, Saturday, September
12...

This fun-filled genealogy fair and workshop will be held on Saturday,
September 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Blountville Middle School,
Blountville, Tennessee. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. This special event
is sponsored by the Sullivan County Genealogical Society and is free to all!
All genealogy societies from East Tennessee, Southwest VA are encouraged to
participate by reserving a table (no fees) to display their books as well as
any other genealogical items such as pedigree charts, photos, etc. which
they might wish to display.

Last year, over 225 people participated from all over upper East Tennessee
and Southwest Virginia. Finger-foods and old-time music will be on hand.
Representatives from several genealogical societies will have displays of
family history books and other genealogical materials available. The
general public is invited to bring family histories, old-time photos, and
any other memorabilia of ancestors from East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia,
and Western North Carolina.

Beginning at 10:00 a.m., guest speakers and lectures for the genealogy fair
include Cherel Henderson, Associate Director of the East Tennessee
Historical Society: "Pioneers of East Tennessee"; Scott Collins, Clerk
and Master of Hancock County, Tennessee: "An Overview of Melungeon
History"; Harold Jerrell, Lee County Virginia Extension Agent: "The
Successes and Frustrations of a Beginning Genealogist"; and Billie
McNamara: "Computer Genealogy and the Internet".

DIRECTIONS: Blountville is located less than a mile off Interstate 81. From
I-81, turn off at exit 69 going to Blountville. At the end of the ramp,
turn right (you'll see Arby's close by). You'll be on Route 37. Stay on
this for about 1/2 mile to the stop light in Blountville. Turn left, go to
the next stop light (near Burger King), and make a right. Go 1/4 mile, and
turn left onto School Drive. (In the unlikely event that you would get
lost, just ask anyone where the Middle School is located.)
