Does anyone have any idea in what type of records you would look for in
Montgomery County/Floyd County VA for divorces that probably took place
circa 1760 through 1771 or so. I am searching for a divorce between a
Ruth Elkins Skaggs and John Skaggs. They had several children. She
must have divorced John Skaggs and then married a John Bishop/Johann
Bischoff because John's death took place after she had children with
John Bishop. She may have been a sister to an Archibald Elkins who
married her step daughter Margaret Bishop and sister to Katherine Elkins
who married her stepson Jacob Bishop. Also anyone having info the this
Elkins family please contact me also.
