King William was originally part of New Kent so there is no mystery about the
occurrence of so many names. The same can be said for King and Queen,
Hanover, and Henrico Co. There is information on nearly all those families in
the Parish Register of St. Peters Church, New Kent, and many of those names
also occur in the Parish Register of Charles Parish in York Co. In all those
registers, the name Slater is also spelled Sclater and used interchangeably
for the same people. JBW
