There was a William, John and "Reps"(?) Childers on the 1785 PECo Heads of Household list. There was also a John "Childress" on the equivalent 1783 list. That could have actually been "Childers" (the name was later changed to Childress by several branches of the family). I would assume that all of these Childers were PROBABLY descendants of the Abraham Childers back in Goochland County, VA in the 1600s. There were several other later Abraham Childers in this family, as well as some Philemon, John, William, Thomas, etc. Childers. I don't see a Josiah Childers on any of my Childers information, but I have not tracked this family much except for one branch (a Tabitha Childers married a Hezekiah Davi(d)son; Hezekiah died in 1793 in Cumberland Co., VA and Tabitha remarried to Gabriel B. Peasley, Junior; this Davidson family was in Albemarle Co., VA in the 1740s before moving to Cumberland Co., VA around 1760). Hezekiah and Tabitha (Childers) Davidson had a child named Phile!
mon Davidson (died 1810 in Cumberland Co., VA). I have also seen the name spelled "Childres." Wish I knew more to help you.
