Subject: [VAROOTS] Where is John Morrison?

I am sending out a cry for help because I haven't just hit the brick wall, I
have hit the black hole. Looking desperately for any info on John Morrison b
c1754 Amherst VA, d 1811 Adair Co KY. I have a ton of information on him,
census data, property, etc...everything but his wife's surname (m. Elenor
c1774 Amherst) & his family! It appears likely that he is from the Rockfish
River area in Amherst. In about 1790 he moved to Kentucky; he obtained
property in Green Co. 9.5.1790, with additional acreage in 1804. The property
was mostly concentrated around Barren River, Crocus Creek & Pettits Fork.
There is a record of a military grant for him as well along the Ohio
watercourse in 1784, but I don't know if this is the same John. The problem
is that since we have no surname for his wife, any trace of parentage, or any
siblings listed, he can't be sorted out from the many other John Morrisons of
that area & time frame. We can be sure he's the right John as far as
Green/Adair county is concerned. I'd buy a copy of the Amherst marriage
records if I thought it would do any good but my guess is that it will just
say John m. Elenor (no last name). If anyone knows of a good place to get a
copy of the marriage records without it costing an arm & a leg, let me know.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I am beginning to think that
this John was brought by elves.
