Hi Pat (and Linda). I found Eoline in the 1900 Census (using the LDS Pilot
Program Linda was using and then heritage quest). Their indexer listed her
under a Jesse O. EVER* (the actual page looked like it could have been
EVERETT to me) and she was 2, born in 1797. I then went to heritage quest and
looked for all the Jesses in Washington Co. to see what their indexer called
the fellow. He was identified as Jesse EVERETT there. He was in Washington
Co., NC, page 41.

I could not find Eoline in the 1910 Census in NC (because, as you list
below, Jesse is Jessie and EVERETTE, not EVERETT) and of course you found her,
as I did, in the 1920 NC Census, 21, teacher, in Jesse's household in the
same district as in the 1900 NC Census in Washington Co.

I believe this is her, but who knows for sure (maybe there is a Marriage
record/bond/certificate somewhere).

Again, thanks for all your help with this Pat and Linda. Best wishes,
Cousin Tim

Well, I chased down the find from Linda -- and if anyone wants the history
of Eoline Shaw, I have it <G> -- but not our "gal." This Eoline married a
Doctor Robert H Spiro, and was living in Asheville, Buncombe, NC in 1930.
Dang.

So sad, it was a good story -- all the way back to 1850.

Sigh.

Back to the drawingboard.

Eoline was 33 in 1930, so born about 1897. This disagrees with the SSDI and
NC death records, if those records are for her. However, she may have been
fudging a bit on the Census. She was married at 28, so say about 1925.

I'll start with the NC Birth Index:

1897 +=2

Eoline Everett, 5 Oct 1897, Washington County, parent 1 Jesse Ophelia
Everett (father)
Thelma Eoline Mitchell, 2 mar 1898, Hertford County, James Saunders

and Hattie V Owens
Clara Eoline Padrick, 1 Aug 1896, Lenoir County, Albert and Mary.

1900

Eoline Everett -- not found

Thelma Eoline Mitchell --

Hattie V, wife, Apr 1869, m 14, 7/4

Clara Eoline Padrick
Kinston, Lenoir, NC
Albert Padrick, head, Feb 1849, 51, m14yrs NC NC NC

Neva?, dau Dec 1889, 12, NC NC NC
Clara O, Aug 1896, 3, NC NC NC

1910, Clara Eoline Padrick is still Clara O, same family. Mother is listed
as Mary S.
Albert and Mary married once, for 23 years. Late marriage for him, for
sure.
He's a bookstore salesman.

1910 produces Eoline Everette
Plymouth Ward 2, Washington, North Carolina
Jessie O Everette 43, m1, 18 (NC NC NC for all) Dept Sheriff, For county
Penelope Everette 42
Victor Everette 16
Eoline Everette 12
Jessie Everette 10
Edith Everette 6
Alfred Garlord 47 - brother in law. Merchant

Thelma E Mitchell and family are still in Winton, Hertford County.
James is a merchant in a Hardware store.
Married once, 25 years.
Adrian is working in the store as well.

1920 has
Kinston Ward 3, Lenoir, North Carolina
Sue Padrick 61
Aley Whitaker 29
Eoline Whitaker 23

Plymouth, Washington County
Everet, Jesse, 51, Salesman, Traveling
Mappie, wife, 51,
Eoline, dau, 21, teacher, graded school
Victor, son, 26 (24?)
Edith, dau, 16.

Winton, Hertford, NC
Mitchell, Hattie V, 50, widowed,
Adrian S, 32, lawyer, general practice
Thelma E, 21, Teacher, graded school

So, Wow, two choices, both teachers.

Next. Relationship of Washington and Hertford counties to our target
county,
Forsyth.

Well, neither are very close.

Unfortunately, the birth records for Forsyth County are not included in the
Ancestry records "North Carolina Birth Index, 1800-2000" -- and this means
a
couple of things. First, hard to find the BC for Harold, and, if Eoline was
born in Forsyth, she's not there either.

Now, if she was really born in 1889, as the DC states:

Name: Neir Eoline Matthews
[Neir Eoline S]
Gender: Female
Race: White
Marital Status: Widowed
Social Security Number: 239207861
Father's Last Name: S
Age: 96
Date of Birth: 1 Aug 1889
Birth Location: North Carolina
Birth State: North Carolina
Residence County: Guilford
Residence State: North Carolina
Date of Death: 28 May 1986
Death City: Greensboro
Death County: Guilford
Death State: North Carolina
Autopsy: No
institution: Nursing and Rest Homes
Attendant: Physician
Burial Location: Burial in state
Source Vendor: NC Department of Health. North Carolina Deaths, 1983-87

We find one possible in the 1900: (all b NC)
Snow Creek (Brown's Precinct), Stokes County, NC
John T Kallam 38 Dec 1861, m12 yrs farmer
Simco U Kallam 32 (looks like Irie[ca] to me) Nov 1867, m12yrs, 4/4
Geo M Kellam 12 Jan 1888
Olie S Kellam 10 Aug 1889
Harry C Kellam 8 Aug 1891
Fletcher L Kellam 7 Mch 1893
Frank Duggins 15 hirling, May 1885

Olie S is now Lola, married to J A Martin, living with the family in 1910.
However, her mother is now listed as "Q V." The 1920 has her as Quincy V.

There is a BC, Stokes county, for Olie Sue Kallam, 1889, father John Thomas
book 4 page 201 - also Harry Cleveland, George Thomas. This is an alpha
index, so there are multiple generations here. No mothers.

So, not our girl. Yet.

Dang.

The listed births on that date in the NCBI were
Emma Reid Dulin, Iredell, John Wilson Dulin and Emma Susan Riley
Marjorie Elizabeth Hartman, Davie County, Charles A Hartman and Maggie M
Brock
Mary Ida Belle Miller, Rowan County, James Calvin Miller and Mara Ada
Ribelin
Ida Florence Somers, Rockingham County, Robert P Somers and Annie Elizabeth
Talley
Leah House Wills, Madison County, Daniel Wills and Florence House.

So, that's all I have.

Maybe a look at the actual Death Certificate (and I'm assuming you know she
died in Guilford?) may provide further information. However, because of her
age and where she was, I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Now, I gotta go do something else. I never know when to stop this.

Pat
