KINGSPORT — Mrs. Frances Gilbretta Sloan Dillard, 55, went to be with Jesus
Sunday (Sept. 24, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center. She succumbed to
cancer after a battle of four years and nine months.

Born in Scott County, Va. on Sept. 5, 1945, she was the daughter of the late
Claude and Faye Massengill Sloan. She was a member of the Apostolic Church
of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson,
Joshua Sanlin; and three sisters, Lula Belle Falin, Marvina Tuck and Betty
Sloan.

Surviving are her husband, Charles ‘‘Chuck’’ Dillard, Kingsport; daughters
and sons-in-law, Charlotte and James Sistar, Monroe, N.C., Betty and Tracy
Sanlin, Yuma, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Cindy Dillard, Monroe,
N.C.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Pierson,
Johnson City, Marie Arrington, Baltimore, Md., and Helen Harrell, Goldsboro,
N.C.; brother, William Sloan, Clinchport, Va.; special mother-in-law, Betty
Dillard Gibson; special friends of the church; and several nieces and
nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Sloantown Cemetery
in the Sloantown community of Scott County, Va.

The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 10 a.m. today to go in
procession to the graveside service.

Grandchildren and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
