Subject: [VASCOTT-] OSBORNE FAMILY

Hi Wadene and other Osborne researchers,
I am greatly interested in this discussion of Stephen parentage. Do you
remember where you found the info on the Rev. War pensioner? I did not know
that there was some question as to Stephen's father until your posts. I
thought that it was settled by the disbursement of Thomas Osborne's estate in
which James and Stephen were coadministrators. "Thomas died intestate and
there was no record of children. Under the laws at that time, when one died
intestate without issue and the parents did not survive, brothers and sisters
would share equally, which I believe happened in this case." The previous
quote is from a letter by Kent Rigg, Attn. at Law, Norton, VA 1973 and is
included in "Early Osbornes and Alleys" by Rita Sutton. He also mentions the
fact that there were 2 other brothers, Morgan and William who would have
qualified with James as administrator, if Stephen had not been a brother.
Please let me know what you think, I welcome your views even if they don't
mirror my own. :^)
