I received CD-1094, Spotsylvania County Land Records 1722-1751 published by Ultimate Family Tree Co., from Heritage Quest yesterday. They had it on their Clearance Corner for $7.49. Talk about a fantastic product.
One item on the CD which got my attention was an entry for a Fielding Lucas. Description: Apprentice, Residence: Spotsylvania Co., VA, Year: 1777, Book/Page J, Date 2 Apr 1777, Property: Apprenticeship. Remarks: Peter x Lucas of Fredksbg. binds out his son, Fielding Lucas, to Edwd. Simpson of Fredksbg., Saddler, to be taught the trade, etc. Witnesses, James Brown, Jno. Wills. April 16, 1778. Fielding is also a witness to a couple of other transactions.
The name Fielding Lucas Smithey has been used in my family for many generations. I've never been able to make any connections to the Lucas Family.
Does anyone on the list know who Fielding married or any other vital information? Also, does anyone on the list have access to a Spotsylvania Co., VA History book to do a look-up on him to see if his name has some historical meaning? I sure appreciate any assistance.
Thank You,
Billy Smithey, Jr.
