I agree with Chocy on the occasional terrific find due to someone I don't know personally - just know them from a mail list.  Mail lists give us the best chance to discover info by way of book, cd, etc - because this group is interested in the same area/name/battle that we also want to learn more about.  I love it when I see an offer from a mail lister.
