Ridiculous! I'm on lots of lists and they all allow this and it has helped
me find books with tons of information that I have needed. If not for the
authors being on these lists I would have not found half of the information
I have found. They always announce when they have a new book out and where
you can purchase it, whether it be from them or someplace else. JMHO!

Advertising on a mailing listAs promised, this is the answer I got from

Rootsweb. I realize some of you were not aware of it, and don't agree with

It, and I made myself pretty unpopular by saying something. It is much

Sterner than I anticipated! It would be a shame for anyone to get

Unsubscribed because they didn't realize they were doing something wrong.

Sarah,

This message is not acceptable. It is clearly an attempt to offer something

For sale, even though it suggests trying to find a copy at a library. The

Wording indicates that it is from someone associated with the sale.

If such a message were sent in response to a query and IF it came from

Someone that is not associated with the company or individual offering the

Item for sale, it would be acceptable.

A subscriber to a mailing list that posts such messages should be instructed

That this is not acceptable. After such a warning it would be appropriate to

Place the subscriber on moderation. Complete disregard of such warnings

Would justify an unsubscribing of the email address and banning from

Subscribing in the future.

Have we provided you with the deletion tool so that you can initiate the

Removal of such messages from your list archive?
