My father, William Dodd, was born in Tazewell in 1888. Several years
ago I was able to successfully trace his ancestors back to a William
Dodd who resided in Botetourt County during the Revolutionary War.
At that time, from somewhere came the following inormation:
"Service during Revolutionary War; -- Capt. Harris Co., Militia, 56th
Dist.
Reference:-- VA DAR Muster Roll Rev War , Botetourt Co, VA (GRC,
1948) p.7"
Can some experienced genealgist out there tell me what this means, and
maybe where I could find the original information?
I have tried without success to find a listing of VA veterans of the
Revolution.
I am also unable to find a Botetourt Co. List or Digest to place an
inqury.
Any suggestions?
