Middlesex County VA has excellent records and is not a burned county like
those adjacent. Look up The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
in the phone book. Find the Family History Center and see the catalog for
microfilms you can order from Middlesex and read right there in the
Center. Also, the Surname File
has many Garrett in it; check all the cards for your names. . Also see
the films of records of Genealogical Department of Rare Books and
Manuscripts of College of William and Mary. Go to Locality File for
Virginia and get Middlesex and then get the college films and look in
index. There is a nationwide Garrett family organization which should
show up in the Surname file. They might have organized originally in
Middlesex.
Let me know how this works and I will scout for other things for
you to do. I am director of the local Family History Center and believe
you will be helped there. Virginia
