Linda,
It makes us all sad that you don't have the time. But..even though I have
never been able to "go back there" to Va. & Warren Co., I'd still like to
thank you for the many who did visit. I am sure it was a "thankless" task
in many ways.
I am constantly uncovering the mammoth task I had requested of someone.
Feeling embarrassed..later, doesn't help much. We so often don't realize
the complexities.
My grandmother was born in Warren Co. Then with the death of her
grandfather RUST, the splitting up of the estate & various travails, her
parents left for Texas. Now, sadly, I don't know of any who might still be
in Front Royal. They were all farm people from the river valley. I think
their names don't echo around there much anymore. They were RUST & MASSIE.
My closest Va. "folks" moved a little south into Rappahannock Co after
the "War". They are still on the farms there around Massies Corner. I have
just found them...and the grave of my G'G'grandfather..Col Thos. Benj.
Massie formerly of Fairview, Warren Co. Va. (Now called Rock Hill, I
believe)
Anyway, thanks for your service to mankind.....
