HiYa Jean!
I've done a lookup in the 60th Virginia Infantry Regimental
Your John S. Dodd was in Compny 'I' He enlisted 4-1-1864 at
the Narrows (which is Narrows VA, just west of Pearisburg VA)
He was present until captured at Winchester VA 9-19-1864 and
then became a P.O.W. at Point Lookout, MD. He was exchanged
3-15-1865 and paroled 6-21-1865 at the age of 45. He was 6'
1.5" tall, grey eyes, and dark hair.

There are two William Dodd's listed.
William Dodd Co.A Enlisted 9-25-1863 in Fredericksburg, VA He
was A.W.O.L. for 5 days 2/1864 Then he was present until sick
12-15-64.

William Dodd Co.F Enlisted 3-20-1864 at Narrows. Present until
listed as missing at Cloyds's Mountain 5-9-1864.

Anderson A Dodd Co.I enlisted at White Sulphur Springs 8-10-61
At home sick 11-20-1861 AWOL 12-1861

I can also tell you that the 151st Virginia Infantry, like you
may already know, only existed a few short months. Many of the
men went on to join the 60th VA INF which was then forming up.
There were two company H and I's. Your Dodd's and my Basham's
were in the Mercer County VA region and became a part of these
two regiments. This unit fought in many western Virginia bat-
les, among them Cloyd's Mountain, Winchester, and other famous
late war battles.

I'd recommend you get the "60th VA INF Regimental" Series Book
to learn more specifics of this unit and all their engagements

I was just given the information that my gr gr grandfather
John Snyder Dodd enlisted in the 151 Reg. of Va. (I found
that roster) but when it was disbanded he and his brothers
Anderson Dodd and William Dodd then joined the 60th Reg of
Northern VA.
