Hi Sarah,
VT vital records are easy to do and not very expensive.
You can call the town clerks and they would tell you if they have the record
you need and what the cost is, or you could write to the Vital Records in
Middlesex--it is $7 for a certificate--they refund $3 if they do not have it.
I find it takes 2-3 weeks to get a reply. The addresses/phone numbers for
all these are on-line. If you go to Rootsweb, then to Vermont, then your
particular county site you can get all the info you need on where to write or
call.
You can also order films from your local FHC of VT vitals--they are arranged
alphabetically by surname so you do not have to know the town that the birth,
marraiage or death took place in.
I find that the records are not always complete that early--if you can't find
a marriage certificate perhaps you could check with the county for probate
records.
People in VT are very kind, friendly and helpful, good luck with your search.
