This would have been where the groom applied for the license. He probably
lived there. The rules in Vermont are:
The groom applies for the license in his place of residence(If Vermont) or
if groom lives out of state the bride's place of residence is used. If both
live out of state then if is gotten from the town the marriage is taking
place.
This for more current marriages.
