FYI, Speedy and Pede are nicknames for Experience....others I have found are
Hitty or Mabel for Mehitabel, Patty for Martha, Nellie for Ellen, Nabby or
Abby for Abigail, Sukey for Susan or Susannah, Jennie for Jane or Sarah
Jane, Hattie for Harriet, Betsey, Eliza, Lizzie or Libby for Elizabeth,
Dolly for Dorothy, Molly or Polly for Mary, Harry for Henry etc. As for
unusual names....my gggg grandfather named his first dau. Resigned because
he was resigned to the fact that she wasn't a male. Luckily her last name
was Smith...her nickname seems to have been Renza.. My favorite name of all
time is Preserved Fish of Ira. Fear Swift is also unusual...and you wouldn't
name a dau. Freelove today. Love was her nickname. I have also seen males
as Freedom, Freeborn and Unity.The list is endless. It was also common to
name a first child from a second marriage after a deceased spouse of the
first marriage. Dawn
