Jean Coburn has kindly loaned me a book, Bloomfield, News and History,
Compiled and Edited by Roger Couture and Published by the Town of
Bloomfield Bicentennial Committee, 1978. I will start posting some of
the information therein.

1762 - Bloomfield was chartered under the name of "Minehead" in 1762.
Bloomfield was chartered to Rev. Noah Waddams and 63 others in 70 equal
shares.

In 1800 the populatiion of Bloomfield was 27. In 1802 Jonas Baker
surveyed the town. The following people were allowed to retain the lots
upon which they had made improvements:

Adam Bartlett was the only soldier from Bloomfield in the War of 1812.

Heber Walling has died at the age of 50 (1790-1840) from tombstone.

1843 - Jabez Baldwin (grandson of the first Jabez who built the first
house in 1789 in Stratford and cousin to Elisha and William who built
the Nulhegan Mill) rebuilt the Baldwin homestead in North Stratford on
the site of the original home.
