Trow & Holden
Manufacturers of Stonecutters' and Quarry Tools
Barre, Vt.

One of the most important enterprises in the country devoted exclusively to the manufacture of
stonecutters' and quarry tools is that of Messrs. Trow & Holden, which was founded in 1888, and has
since developed a trade for its products that extends generally throughout the United States and
Canada, wherever stone is quarried and worked. The manufacturing plant is comprised in a commodious
and fully equipped shop, having power hammers, forges and other requisite appliances, operated by
steam power, and employment is given to about a dozen skilled workmen. The products consist of
hammers, cutting tools, wedges, hooks, bars and other tools used in quarrying and working stone, all
of which are made from the best American and English steel, under the most favorable conditions, and
by highly-skilled workmen, who are experts in steel working and tempering. A large stock of tools
is kept on hand from which orders may be promptly filled, and tools are sharpened with dispatch.
The firm's tools are used by Barre granite manufacturers in large quantities, and they bear the
highest reputation in the trade for superiority. The members of the firm, Messrs. John Trow and C.
Holden, are both practical manufacturers and enterprising business men, closely identified with the
progress of this thriving city.

Best regards,
Debbie
