List members:

I just returned from a research trip to Manchester, Bennington Co., VT. Before I left I took some research requests from this list . With the limited time, I had I was able only to get to the alphabetically listed Vital Stat (b/d/m) records and Index to Manchester Land records.

I alphabetized all the names and copied what I saw under those names-or "near to"spellings. So here we go on the first few families: (Please know this is ALL that I have -- just meant to be a lead for you. Regretfully if it isn't listed here, then I did not see)

1) HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON

Herrington, Benjamin, Jr. m. Sophronia Sperry. Jan.8, 1826 in Manchester, Bennington Co.,VT, Justice of Peace, James Hickox, Jr., Residence of of Groom. Hoosic, NY.

2) SMITH

SMITH, ANN m. Robert AMES in Manchester. 26 Oct. 1826, Abraham Brownson, Minister of Gospel.

SMITH, SALLY m. William BRANCH, 18 April 1815, Manchester, James Hickox, Justice of Peace

Cemetary record: SMITH, JOHN husband of Mary BULL, d. May 1825 in Manchester. (Ormsby Chapter of DAR there)
1 ch: NATHAN SMITH.

3) BULL, Thomas, Esquire m. Abigail HOVEY, 26 May, 1816, Manchester; James Hickox, Justice of Peace

Under "Learn something every day": I found that there were a number of small towns within a short distance of Manchester (Sunderland, Arlington,East Arlington, South Dorset, Dorset, Sandgate, etc.). Most within 10 miles of each other. The farm/land owned by your ancestor could've been officially in one of those small towns. Since VT records are kept by the Town Clerks of each town, then you need to check with each of these Town Clerks. Also, some of the Town Clerks work out of their home and therefore you have to either write them or make an appt. to see. Big mistake on my part not to know this bit of information because I ran out of time and could not check these sources.
