Sylvia,
This is what I was sent that makes me so sure it was a Congregational
church. He & later his family moved to Mach in about 1872-1873 where he had
2 more children born.,
Waterbury Town Clerk's office
Book 5, Marriages, page 3, line 8
Lawrence Burton, resident of Richmond, 21 yrs old, occupation mechanic,
birthplace Sheldon, father Lewis Burton, 1st marriage
Julia Ann Clark Resident of Duxbury, 16 yrs. old, father Rodolphus Clark,
1st marriage
by C.C. Parker, Cong. Church September 26, 1858
Recorded with town clerk on February 25, 1859
Yet I was told Congregational is not Catholic & Lawrence was a Catholic
being bapt at St Jean Baptiste, Rouville. Quebec.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated upon church,
Thank you,
Kathy

Kathy,
We have some original Congregational church records here in Special
Collections, but not Waterbury, I'm sorry to say. What we do have is 19th
century Waterbury church manuals, which list members over the years, and
the Burton name doesn't show up there. Are you sure it was a
Congregational church?
