was born in Canada sometime around 1800-1810. His wife's name is Mary (no
surname available) and she was born approx. 1817 in Vermont. On the 1850
census their oldest child is 14, so I am assuming they were married around
1834-1835. This is all the info. I have on them, and I have already written
to the State of Vermont records department with no luck. I also hired a
professional researcher from Quebec, also with no luck. I do know from
earlier postings to this board and others that the surname Govro was
probably spelled Gauvereux or Gauverau or something similar.

> hi gary...well did you go through the vital records in montpelier? or did
you go through the city vital records themselves? that will make a big
difference! I just wanted to let you know that for my records...they are
strictly marriage records for quebec, and clinton county New York. I dont
have birth, death or census. I do have several listings for the surname of
gauvreau (that tends to be the spelling for it) even though i may not have
your grandfather and his wife marie...i can give the surnames that i have
that perhaps down the line they will fit into place.
marriages of charlesbourg:
joseph (parents pierre and marie anne deguire (they were married at notre
dame quebec, which is port royal) 25 jan 1768 to madeleine drouin
claude (widower of marie madeleine fluet (n.d quebec) 19 nov. 1764 to marie
genevieve verret
marriages county of laprairie:
marie Catherine (parents were jean baptiste and Marie Josephte Brunet) 25
july 1774 at st. philipe to joseph aguenier
Genevieve (same parents as above, says that parents were married at
montreal) st. philipe 15 nov. 1784 to Toussant Bisaillon
Catherine (joseph Aguenier died, she remarried) 10-nov. 1873 to Joseph Marie
Gagne
st joseph of chambly:
pierre (parents etienne and marie louise baron) 7 sept 1778 married
francoise grise (her parents were jacques and francoise marcoux)
this is the information which i have hope that it help somehow..
