HI Joyce,
If I can get to the VT Vital Records in Middlesex I am hopeful of finding Alice MILES parents. I have tried to get people in Hardwick, VT to check out town records to see if there is something for MILES there. I haven't checked the 1870 or 1880 census records for Hardwick and maybe that would list a MILES family and the children by name.
I can check the Vtal Records in NH maybe today at the NH State Library and see what I find on Miles in NH.

I too am trying to find more information on a MILES - in my case Cynthia
who also is said to have been Native American (not sure of tribe but because
Cynthia was from northern VT area, I think an Abenaki connection would not
be far-fetched. Cynthia was born in 1864, daughter of John MILES (who is
listed as being from NH on Cynthia's birth cert.) and Emily HARRIS. I do
not anything about siblings of Cynthia. And off-hand, I am not sure where I
got the information on Emily's parents, but I have them listed as Richard
HARRIS and Lydia (unknown). I have a circle genealogy chart that I use for
quick reference as in this case so would have the information as to where I
got Richard's and Lydia's names in my files.
I am also very interested in finding more information on John MILES
whose parents I have listed on this circle chart as William MILES and
Elizabeth FRENCH.
