I've already sent this to the Vest group. Like the title says, it's the sum
total of my knowledge to date about the Via family. May there's something
here that can help somebody. And PLEASE let me know if you have information
related to my family.

I thought the only Via in my family was my maternal grandmother's first
husband. But I learned different.

Here is an interesting note: there are several spellings for Via including
Viers.

Vias I have known....there were three Vias that married three Cochrans,
children of Edward Cochran Jr. (1786) of Virginia in my family tree. Isaac
Via (son of Josiah) married Martha Patsy Cochran, two children, Willy A.
and Polly; Sparrell Via married Mary Cochran; and Rachael Via married
Nathan Cochran. I think I got this information from Nettie Clifton, a
Cochran researcher. I lose track sometimes.

I have on my dining room wall a picture of James Anderson Elmer Via (born
Jan. 4, 1877/died Nov. 21, 1902). He was the first husband of my
grandmother, Emma Stella Gadd (May 23, 1879/January 1965) on Nov. 6, 1900.
Anderson died as a young man, a tree fell and killed him. They had one son,
Dewey Abshire Anderson Via (Jan. 12, 1902/Sept. 12, 1936), who died without
issue. Recently I found an old picture of two old bearded gentlemen,the Via
Twins. There was a note that one was the father of Anderson.

There is a Via in the Radford branch of my family: Elizabeth Via (born abt.
1831) married Lewis A. Radford (born abt. 1818). Lewis was the son of
William M. Robert Radford and Elindor Underwood. Elizabeth and Lewis had
seven children: Mary R.; Ellender Jane; Gabriel W.; Robert William; Samuel
H.; Amos D. and Octavia John Radford.

Last but not least. I believe one of my grandmother's was a Via but I am
not exactly sure yet. I think my third great grandmother is Elizabeth Via,
daughter of John Via and Sarah Wright. Elizabeth Via married Charles Vest
(born 1784 in Campbell Co., Va.) on Jan. 9, 1812. Charles was the son of
John Vest and Agnes Davidson.

I THINK Elizabeth Via and Charles Vest are the parents of my great great
grandfather, Jackson Vest. Jackson was married to Nancy Lilly on Feb. 15,
1855. They lived on White Oak Mountain in Raleigh County, WV, near the
Summers County line. That's the very same land where I grew up.

I've communicated with several people interested in the Via family.

Co., Va., Josiah/Josias Via (born about 1774).

Hammond in Montgomery co Va in 1840. He may have a brother Noah and his
