Henry Via, lives in Clinton, Ky, and is one of the last Via there (other
than his son, Tommy).
After speaking to Henry, I learned that he is connected to my Via.
Henry's parents were Charlie and Beatrice. Charlie's parents were Thomas and
Cordelia Via.
I have a copy of the 1920 index which lists Thomas, aged 70, Cordelia, aged
63, and 2 grandsons, Carney, 15, and Fred, 13. They were Henry's brothers.
Henry says he thinks his grandpa died in 1925, but wasn't sure.
Thomas Via was a brother to my Pleasant Via. Henry says he remembers "Uncle
Pleasant" and recalled Pleasant having about 20 children.
Soo.....if I can ever find out who Pleasant's grandfather is, I will go
right back to your folks.
This is what I need:
Samuel Via, Pleasant's father, lived in Hickman, KY but was born in Va about
1820.
I NEEEED someone to find a Samuel Via's birth in either Franklin County, VA
or surrounding counties. The 1840 census only lists heads of households,
which does not help me because I do not know Samuel's father's name.
I have a strong feeling that Samuel's brothers were Overton, Thomas, David,
and/or William.
They were all found in the same town in KY as Sam, and all, like him had a
birthplace in VA.
There has to be a connection. I really need help. Hickman County cannot help
me with finding Sam in VA.
I do know that Sam married Mary Jane Michael in Hickman in 1841. So...I just
need to figure out when he arrived in KY and from where. Mary was born in
Tennessee, so I do not know how they hooked up.
Anyway, I would appreciate it if efforts could be made on reseach in KY.
Thanks!!!
