I am certain that the Gideon shown was the son of David and Frances. I am not
so sure that the William was a Via...the last name was very difficult to read
although it was similiar to Viehers or Vickers. This William did not show up
in the tax list for later years.

11 white souls record 1785 >>

Since the 1790 census was actually reconstructed from various other lists I
don't put a lot of faith in it. I know several Via's were overlooked in the
First Census. Possibly not in Albemarle County but in other counties. It
could also mean that the Micajah in Augusta was not over 21 in 1785 or was
still in the household with his parents. Very interesting. I have also
ordered the early Augusta County Land Tax records. Maybe it will produce
further info on Micajah and the possible William. If that William does turn
out to be a Via it's highly likely he was also the son of David and Frances
Stringer Via. It will probably be a couple of weeks before the land tax
microfilm comes in but will post any results to the list.
