William A. Via KIA 9 June 1862 per the 52nd VA Inf roster info. So there is 2
yrs 10 mo to end of the war for her to remarry and have Charles Poole and try
to go thru Union Lines. Of course, I 'm sure there were still a lot of Union
troops around for some time after the end of the war so I guess that extends
the possible time.

As I think I mentioned before, the youngest Via child, Bettie, was with her
oldest sister, Susan's, family (James M. Alvis) in Wood Co WV in the 1870
Census and I believe Mary Ann was dead by then, as Bettie stayed with them and
came to Boone Co MO before 1875.

Thanks to Dennis King for phone number of Staunton Public Library - I'll try
it.
