Lynwood Eugene Via, 70, of 1811 E. Main St. was pronounced dead on arrival early this morning at Waynesboro Community Hospital.

He was born in Augusta County on July 13, 1904, a son of the late Ernest Lynwood and Bessie Lillian Coiner Via.

Mr. Via was a retired mechanic with Baugher Chevrolet Co. and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eva Layne Via; one son, Harry Calvin Via of Waynesboro; one daughter, Mrs. Reginald E. (Carrie) Ruckman of Weyers Cave; four brothers, E. Austin Via, Clyde O. Via and Nathan A. Via, all of Staunton, and Harold G. Via of Waynesboro; six sisters, Mrs. Lester E. (Estelle) Miller and Mrs. Ellsworth C. (Eva) Reardon, both of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Richard E. (Vallie) Sull, Mrs. Francis H. (Hilda) Strickler, Mrs. William R. (Norwood) Humphries and Mrs. Charles M. (Alice) Drummond, all of Staunton; and 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Firiday in the chapel of the Etter Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. B. C. Akers and the Rev. Scott C. Hutton. Burial will be in Augusta Memorial Park.

The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
