Gloria (Dodson) Via, 82, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully in her
sleep on Monday, July 20, 2009 at her home. She was born Sunday, April
3, 1927 in Harrisburg to the late Nelson and Ruth (Christ) Zimmerman.
She was the widow of Robert H. Via, Jr. who went to be with the Lord
in 2003.
She was retired from Hershey Foods where she had worked in production.
Gloria was a woman of strong faith, loved spending time with her
family, enjoyed viewing the leaves during season changes, and could be
seen with a smile on her face while reading a book.
She is survived by three sons, Robert J. and wife Cindy of
Littlestown, Terry L. of Palmyra, and Thomas C. and wife Susan of
Elizabethtown; eleven grandchildren, Robert J., Jr., Thomas C., Jr.,
Laurie A. (Via) Yost, April, Vincent, Kevin, Shane, Lynelle, Nathan,
Tori Conner, and Lester Conner; one great grandson, Derrick; one great-
great granddaughter, Nevaeh Conner.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 9:30 AM at
Rothermel Funeral Home, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with
Pastor Brian Yingst officiating. Friends and family are invited for a
time of viewing from 8:30 AM until time of the service. Burial will
follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National
Kidney Foundation of Central PA, 4813 Jonestown Rd., #101, Harrisburg,
PA 17109-1700.
