It appears you use OE 5.0, and if you have lots of messages stored on your
system, its going to take a while to get them all online. By downloading, do
you mean from your ISP or just displayed on your screen from initializing
your programs?

I have been having a problem. Everytime I bring up my
computer in the morning then click on "Read Mail" my
computer goes craze uploading and downloading files.
Sometimes its so bad that my mail box takes a minute or two
to become visable. I don't know if this is a virus or if
its normal.

Do I have a virus?
