Why, if we use McAfee, Norton, InoculateIT, or any other "good" AV program,
do we need to go to Housecall.Com and do what seems to be a redundant scan?

Has anyone, who has his/her AV program configured properly, ever had that
AV program NOT alert on a virus/worm/trojan and then gone to Housecall.Com
and actually found a virus/worm/trojan on the system?

Also, in order to use Housecall to scan one's system for viruses, worms,
trojans, etc., it is necessary to download and install certain
files. Why? That bodes ominous to me. I don't WANT such files on my
system! You can bet that some kind of "Spyware" files will be placed on
your system! Recalling something from about 1960, from Analog Science
Fiction and Fact magazine, from the editor, John W. Campbell,

Just curious,
