SunflowerGood morning everyone!
I joined the list just last week in hopes that I would gain a better
understanding of viruses, etc. And believe you me the mail
I read since day 1 is extremely thought provoking. I hope I am
imagining things but - I may have something going on which needs
attention and have no idea what to do next.
While it probably is not a virus per se, intuition tells me my PC
may have been invaded.
This morning strengthened that thought.
I was online, reading the messages and happened to place the mouse
over the Inet Icon to discover there had been 24069 bytes sent (now
24964) plus mail (32 messages)197450 received.
I didn't send anything this morning nor were there any draft
messages sitting in the out box to be sent on start up.
Is this significant of someone having hooked into my computer? If
so, what do I do to locate the culprit? etc etc.
I have W98, and McAfee, and the free ZA which is now blocking even
expected mail and as I am over the 30 day period ZA does not give me
any information on the origin of the blocked message. Just shows
ads to buy office stuff I don't need.
I am on several Rootsweb Genealogy lists, and not all the members
messages are getting through - my mail is down by almost 70%.
Any advice gratefully accepted.
I should warn you I am a senior and self-taught on the PC but have
had one for eons. I am not afraid to tackle the PC nor the software
so long as I have a guideline.
Thanks
Aileen
