Begging David's pardon, but downloading AV program virus "dat" file UPDATES
has nothing to do with downloading and installing AV program version
UPGRADES.

Again, begging David's pardon, installing new VERSIONS of an AV program has
nothing to do with the problem of DOWNLOADING new virus "dat" files for the
Grisoft AVG program. The problem is NOT with installing new VERSIONS of
the AVG program, but is a problem with DOWNLOADING the periodic UPDATE
virus files. David's suggestions/recommendations on installing new
VERSIONS of AV programs (ANY program, for that matter) are well put. But,
one must always read the accompanying "readme" files first; for some
programs, one must ALWAYS uninstall older versions before installing new
versions; and for some programs, one must ALWAYS install new versions "over
the top" of previous versions.
