Hi Patsy
In Notepad, go to Edit>Set Font and see what it has as the default.
Also I found the following from someone called volcano11

From everything I could find searching google, zango is one of the more difficult verities to remove without editing the registry. My suggestion is to go to the following site and follow the directions to download and run the analysis tool called HijackThis.
http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/
Generate a log file, then open it and copy and paste the text of the log file in a message in the forum at:
http://tomcoyote.com/forums/index.php
where a certified HijackThis expert can offer advice on how to fix the problem:

this does seem be a nasty -- you are lucky Internet Explorer is still working.

OK, it's me the pesty pest with another *problem*.
About a week ago, as I was fooling around with the computer, I noticed a
program downloading. When I went to my desktop, sure enough, there were a
couple new icons that were fully executable named "zango".
Not wanting any part of this program, I went to my add and remove programs
and there it was. When I clicked on it to remove it, instead of removing it
the 'normal' way, I got a box saying I had to be connected to the internet
(which I was) in order to remove the program. I immediately was directed to
their website, where there were absolutely NO directions about removing
their program.....fooled around with this a couple of days, then FINALLY
used my Windows Washer and deleted it -- since then, I have not found zango
in any of my scans.
Now for another problem: I made a genealogy web page working completely in
Notepad. However, I am unable to view anything using Notepad. Numbers show
up okay, but letters show up like square boxes.
When I try to view the source of someone else's page, I get the same boxes.
I am completely unable to use my Notepad.
My scans do not show a virus. Did my options/defaults get affected in some
manner?
As I was dependent on Notepad to transfer my notes to the website, I had to
develop another system--which is much more time consuming and harder.
If any of you great people recognize this problem and can help me, I will be
ever so grateful.
And please be aware of the program called ZANGO.
Thanks,
Patsy in the Golden State Wine Country
