Subject: Norton auto turned off?
Date: Tue, 14 Sep 2004 01:32:51 EDT
Hello from a lurker,
My Norton Auto Protect has been disabled, and will not respond to my attempts
to enable it. ??? I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff, but have
poked around and can't seem to find any way to get it back on. My "system
status" is warning URGENT ATTENTION and my email status shows ERROR. I have run
several scans and nothing has come up.
I suspect it's related to the Windows XP update that I did today as it was
just fine this morning. I had been warned about problems with the update, and
avoided downloading it, but did so by accident. (It said it was an HP update
when I started it - and I didn't realize what it actually was until too late.)
Right now I am running with no protection, and am concerned about even
sending this email or opening your responses.
Any suggestions as to what may have happened and how to get my Auto Protect
turned enabled again would be appreciated. I have learned a lot reading your
various emails, but can't seem to apply them to myself! Thanks, Midge
