Hi Carol, I'm very interested to see this. The Fredenburghs that lived in
this tri-state area are in my direct line. Anyone researching this line can
find a wealth of church record info in a book entitled The Reformed Church
at Machackemack (Deerpark) Orange County, New York. originally published in
the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, volume XLII July, 1911
no. 3 through volume XLIV October, 1913 copied, typed, indexed by Jean D.
Worden.
My ancestor, Hezekiah Fredenburgh, son of Wilhelmus Fredenburgh and
Elisabeth Van Garden, removed to the Grand River region of Ontario, as near
as I can determine probably sometime between 1813 and 1820. His eldest son,
Wilhelmus Fradenburgh (1805-1871) who was my gggGrandfather, married Sarah
Dochstader, daughter of Catherine Brant. Catherine was a full-blooded Mohawk
and the (unconfirmed) story handed down through the family is that she was a
daughter, or perhaps sister, of Chief Joseph Brant. Wilhelmus and Sarah
settled on a farm on the banks of the Grand River in South Cayuga Twp,
Haldimand Co, Ontario, near Dunville, which became known as the Fradenburgh
Tract.
